The main character of the game is Sarah, a young girl who comes from a magick background family and she goes to this castle to explore it and get more magicak items etc.
There is a demo available as well.
It seams a good game but i am not very good with games like this one. I seam to be better with site scroler games like superliam and tarzan junior. I also look forward for the Montezuma's revench game to be released from usagames because it is going to be site scroler as well and it seams a good one.
But people who like shades of doom and games like that will enjoy the Sarah game. I wish i could understand the navication in games like that but the many rooms, corators and openings arround confuse me lol.
The game is very big about 170 mb or something.

It's been several months since this board was last posted to. I've downloaded the game and tried the demonstration. How in the hell are you supposed to get a registration key, or whatever it is, so Sarah can explore the rest of the castle? The ground floor and basement are beginning to bore me, and I keep getting caught by Filch, the caretaker.
is this a self voiceing game? And in response to te last post you might have to buy a product key.

it's based on harry potter, in fact most if not all the names ad stuff are taken from there. Joanne did mention the caretaker after all, smile. and tonks, write to Phil, he's a cool guy and should help ya out in how to buy a product key. By Phil I mean Phil Vlasak of course.

You can buy that game on the site you mentioned. I don't know the steps taken to purchase a license key, but good luck. I've played that game and others like it. Quite fun!

Sorry to bring this topic back up to the top again, but has anyone managed to get the golden snitch? I'm having problems catching that stupid thing.
Yes, I have, but it depends on if you're playing beginner or not. Oh, don't waste your time exploring the 6th floor as it's pretty much empty. I haven't managed to get into the lake yet. Oh, if you got the product key, remember to go back to phil's site at pcsgames.net and download and install sarah patch 4 as it fixes some bugs in the original release. Also, there are some problems with the game getting stuck and don't try to ride the motorcycle right now cause that usually causes the game to free up. Phil was supposed to release a game update patch along with some other things for it in September, but he's a bit behind and the update is free. Good luck.

The new release will be free and have new rooms, things to find, surprises, and a greenhouse area with some of those crazy plants and bug fixes. I don't know why Phil released the game for Draconus to sell without checking it cause there really were a lot of bugs in it. I think it was a bit premature of a release to have people pay for the game when there were so many bugs, program freezes and stuff in it. Anyway, this version will install right over the current one so you don't have to uninstall and then reinstall it and worry about license key or anything. I emailed Phil to check on its progress, but haven't heard back yet. Oh, make sure to go to his site pcsgames.net and download and install sarah patch 4 cause that will fix some of the bugs.
You also have a potion making kit and can make 3 potions in the game now.
I won't deny that the game was interesting and I do own a copy, but I sort of lost interest in it after a while.
Hey sorry to bring this back up, but how do you get in the hump backed witch secret passageway? I know its there, but can't make sara go in it. I need to buy a key still.
Add an H to her name LOL. It's Sarah. Anyway, you need to use one of your passwords. It depends on which way the passage goes but if I'm not mistaken the two passwords are Descendium and Ascendium.
what I don't understand is how he's getting away with this. It doesn't seem like he's written to J. K. rowling or anyone affiliated with her to request permission to use her characters. Copyright infringement! I hate people who do shit like that. There may be a mention that it's inspired by her books in the player's guide, but that's not enough. Part of what he earned selling this game should go to her since the creatures and the location were her work to begin with, except for Sarah.
He's also gotten away with Pacman Talks which uses the character and even sound effects. I don't understand it either but so far he has.
Personally though as I said, I really couldn't get fully into the Sarah game despite being a Potter fan.
I tried downloading the demo of that game once before, and it didn't work, nothing worked when I tried to play it, it wouldn't even come up right.
I'll admit I never had problems with that but I'd make sure you met all the system requirements first. For some reason though when you first load up the game there's apparently some sort of dialogue that your screen reader can't read and so you have to just press Enter to actually start the game. I seem to recall Phil Vlasak saying something to that effect on the Audyssey mailing list.
Oh. ok. Gonna have to try that again some day. maybe.
Like I said though I personally just couldn't get into that game.
I am a new player of the Sarah and Castle of Withcfraft and Wizardry game. I've found the map, flute, brooms, and piece of string. I found this morning the Ash and Unicorn wand, but I have no clue how to pick it up. Any help?

You mean Flying? LOL. As for the Snitch I don't think you can even catch it until the end of the game.

Even though my computer it was quite fast sometimes it was take a lot of time to load it up too.

I haven't played that game in about three years. I just couldn't get into it. And I'm a huge Harry Potter fan.
Same here. But then again I always hate games that have winding hallways going into rooms, if and only if you have to turn in specific degree values. Shades of doom, sara, things like that. However, I don't seem to be having any problem with super dogs bone hunt, probably because there's only the fence to worry about.
I actually have less trouble finding my way around in Shades of Doom than I do in Sarah. The navigation tools seem a bit more...I don't know...precise? Reliable? in Shades.
Well, sod doesn't have the annoying walking thing, you press up arrow for each step you want.
That too. I just think the controls are more responsive and the navigation is more precise in Shades.
